How to edit CMS block in Magento

  1. From Magento Admin panel to CMS→Static Blocks
  2. On top right click "Add New Block"
  3. Fill in: General Information
  4. From Magento Admin panel to CMS→Static Blocks
  5. Under General Information choose "Content"
  6. Add the code
  7. Click "Save" button

There’s no better way to declare seasonal sale or some special offer than through adding static blocks to your home page or any other page for that matter.

Start by logging in and navigating to CMS and then choosing Static Blocks menu item.

Note that in order to obtain CMS as a menu item, you need to download our Magento Simple Menu module.

Next screen will give you an overview of all your static blocks.

At this point, you should notice orange Add New Block button, located in the upper right part of your screen.

What we want to show you is how to create a new block in the first place and afterward edit an existing one.

Take a closer look:

Click on Add New Block button and continue with adding General information about your brand new block.

Here is how it will appear:

You should assign a title to our block, determine identifier and store view, and choose Enabled from the dropdown menu.

Identifier name can only contain small letters and words can can only be divided with hyphens.

For example your-block-id.

Add content for your static block and, once you are satisfied with how everything looks, click famous Save Block button in the upper part of the screen.

Success page will follow and, at this point, you can see your static block listed together with other, previously created blocks.

When it comes to editing, we chose to edit Footer and you can do that by navigating again to the main menu and choosing Static Blocks menu item.

You should click on Footer Links. (or any other block you wish to edit)

Once again, you will see Edit Block page and at this point, you should be able to edit its content.

We simply showed editor by clicking on the orange Show/Hide Editor button and added our identifier to the code.

Here is how we did it:

Now the only thing left to do is to locate Save button in the upper-right part of the page, continue to your store’s home page, reload the page, and take a look at your updated footer.
