Removing products from categories is a simple process and you will probably use it a lot on your online store.

Your products are precious and, as such, they have to be updated at all times.

That is why you will often mark them as in/out of stock, remove old and add new ones.

That is why in this tutorial we will show you how to do it in just a couple of steps.

Assuming you are logged in, navigate to Catalog and choose Manage Products from the dropdown menu.

Magento menu

You will see all of your products listed.

What you need to do is to find a particular project that you want to remove from the category.

You can find your product searching by its SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number, or by typing whole, or part of the product’s name, or ID.

Take a look at the screenshot:

You will see all information related to your product.

What you have to do is to choose Category from the left-hand menu.

You will see all of your categories listed.

In order to see the list of all its subcategories, you should click the +sign next to the category name.

The one with the marked checkbox is the one that contains your product.

Let’s take a closer look:

We want to remove it, so we simply have to uncheck the box.

And that is it – this product will no longer be in this category.

Of course, if you know where you want it to be, go ahead and choose some other category and mark the checkbox next to it.

All you have to do now is to click on the orange button in the upper part of the screen in order to Save Category.

Your changes are now saved, well done!
